How does laser hair removal work? – Laser hair removal targets the melanin pigment in the hair shaft. Therefore laser treatments work best on darker hair because there is more pigment. The laser light is absorbed by the unwanted hair, destroying the follicle. Hair grows in cycles, alternating between a “resting” and “growth” stage. For that reason, 3 -4 treatments booked 4 – 6 weeks apart are necessary to treat each hair follicle. Following these treatments, some hair growth may persist but should be much finer and less in amount.    stops actively growing but is not shed. This phase often lasts several weeks comprising about 3 - 4% of our total body hair at any given time.
3. The RESTING or TELOGEN phase lasts 5 - 6 weeks, at the end of which the hair falls out and a new hair begins to form. Approximately 10-13% of our body hair is in this phase at any one time.
